Vietnam (currently known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) is a country that is on the Indochina Peninsula in Southeast Asia. Its borders include: to the north China, Northwest to Laos, southwest to Cambodia and to the South China Sea on the east. Vietnam has a population of over 86 million people. Vietnam regained its independence by breaking away from China in 938AD. Vietnam was formed in 257BC with its first emperor Hung Vuong. It has seen many dynasties even up to their golden age in 1802. Throughout that time China has made four separate attempts to take over Vietnam. Mongols have invaded then been defeated. Then French came and tried to make Vietnam like them. Vietnam has seen many wars after it’s golden age and continues to prosper and evolve with modern life.Even today, the people are split into North and South Vietnam to accomodate two different political philosophies.
