The Early Years: Weaponry & Transportation

Thai people riding and elephant

- In 1593, lots of debates / battles were settled by elephant jousting.
- Traditional way of fighting;
+ Fist Fighting / Wrestling.
+ Thai Chi.
- During battles (approx. 1375-1768) against Burma, Cambodia and Vietnam, warriors would battle by boxing.
- Early Weapons such as swords, lances, spears and crossbows were made from ;
+ Bones.
+ Stone.
+ Wood.
- Other weapons later developed were ; Cannons (1375) and small guns (flintlock guns and pistols).


Transportation:
- Main source of transportation:Elephants.
+ Used to cross large amounts of land

+ Used to cross lakes and rivers
- Other sources of transportation: Foot, Bamboo Rafts, and Long Tail Boats.
+ In the earlier years, Thai people had to travel around by foot because vehicles weren't invented until many years later.
+ Bamboo Rafts and Long Tail Boats were hand made flotation devices that made it easier for Thai people to cross large or small bodies of water.
